Lake Bled, Slovenia to Kamp Rodonja somewhere on the road before Zadar, Croatia
So my plans for updating everyone has gone caput with the lack of interwebs…well all over this part of the world… and the lack of cell coverage…and the lack of consistent signal when we do have wifi…and well because we are cheap and don’t want to pay. :P
So we entered Croatia through Slovenia after a beautiful day on the water at Lake Bled, Slovenia. The plan. Drive all the way down the coast to a city called Dubrovnik, where they filmed a bunch of Game of Thrones. The infamous King’s Landing is there, if you watch the show.
Anyways after many many kilometers (from this point on we will be using the metric system. 1.6 miles to the kilometer, 3.78541178 liter to the gallon —just approximate to 4 L to the US gallon) we made it at midnight to Kamp Rodonja somewhere on the road to Plitvice Lakes. We decided to look for a legitimate campsite in Croatia after hearing horror stories of Croatian police walking up and fining/arresting "side-of'the-road" campers...
The kamp was literally just a field with a some trees neatly marking out sections into a grid-like spacing with a outdoor shower, grill area, and bathrooms to the left.
We arrived so late no one was at the recepcija… so Marshal, Patrick and I just pitched our tent next to the car while Josiah pitched his ENO hammock….one end on a fence post and the other on the roof rack…. I thought the car was going to tip over (tehee), but a miracle happen and it survived the night.
Disclaimer: No fence posts or VW Polos were hurt in the during our travels.
We all woke up with the sun shining at its fullest on our faces and made our way across the street to pay for the night. In the most perfectest, absolutely clear…broken engrish/hand signaling we paid for the night… from what we gathered the first lady we attempted to pay was related to the kamp as it was her husbands brother…or some variation of that… it was 28 euros for the night… expensive, but we heard that the Croatian police are not kind to any
kamperski that just pull over on the side of the road. After a beautiful packing job of our car, we hit the payment hard towards Plitvice Lakes.
